#8164 John Main Seminar 2007 in Quebec, Canada The John Main Seminar 2007 marked the 25th anniversary of John Main’s death and also the 30th anniversary of his establishing the new form of Benedictine community that evolved into The World Community for Christian Meditation. Six speakers addressed contemporary issues, speaking from their personal experience of this way of prayer. In the short span that was his life (1926-1982), John Main was a soldier, journalist, diplomat, university professor, lawyer, and finally Benedictine monk. Dom John Main’s teaching is prophetic. It clarifies, expands, and inspires. He taught with great authority and conviction yet he always pointed beyond himself to the true teacher – Christ. His conviction that silence is the supreme medium of the Spirit’s revelation was the gentle strength of his authority. |
